Alan Gunner
Alan’s expertise as a practicing business executive for a wide range of organizations from small business to Fortune 500’s includes operations analysis, process improvement, business plan development, acquisition integrations, and sales and marketing initiatives. He thrives in leadership roles where change is a constant and innovation and responsiveness to customers and markets are key. Alan has been recognized for delivering P&L results and his managing of large, game-changing projects and market initiatives. He is a senior partner at Visibility Management.
Alan is currently assisting organizations with many critical functions within the Professional Services arena including Optometry / retail affiliations, contract negotiations, understanding State and Federal laws on Optometry affiliation, performing Optometry cost modeling and working with retail organizations on the best Optometry model for their strategic plan.
Most recently, Alan was the Executive Vice President, Professional Services for For Eyes Optical and was responsible for all functions within the Professional Services organization including most Optometrist relations such as recruiting, scheduling, contracting, invoicing and issues resolution, understanding State and Federal laws on Optometry affiliation, managed vision contracting and credentialing, obtaining optometric equipment and office management systems, developing coverage strategies and working with Retail Operations to ensure the best optometry / retail affiliation model. Alan began his tenure at For Eyes as the Executive Vice President, Corporate Development where he worked closely with the executive team on organization-wide project management and implementation, process improvement initiatives, policy development, employee benefits analysis, strategic planning and operational strategies and efficiencies. As an executive of the company, he provided the leadership, management and vision necessary to ensure that the organization had proper administrative and reporting procedures, communications, processes and infrastructure in place to ensure outstanding operating efficiency to effectively grow the business.
Prior to joining For Eyes, Alan was the President of AGC, LLC, a consulting firm that was committed to building organizations that prevent operational “fires” rather than continually fighting them. His approach was to perform detailed analyses to identify areas for improvement resulting in increased efficiencies, better employee morale and improved bottom line results.
Previously, Alan was Vice President, Client Services for Advantica Dental and Vision. He and his team were responsible for complete client satisfaction from initial implementation, ongoing support for successful renewals as well as client growth through cross selling additional products and services.
Alan has built his career from serving as Staff Vice President, Client Operations Readiness for WellPoint NextRx where he directed all new client implementations as well as system integrations and business migrations. Previously, Alan spent nine years in the vision industry and gained extensive experience in large department operations management, acquisition integrations, account management and strategic planning with Cole Managed Vision and EyeMed Vision Care. Earlier, Alan became well versed in contract negotiations, sales, benefit consulting and plan administration in the pharmacy and medical industries while with Revco RxConnections, MIM Health Plans and Travelers Insurance Company.
Alan holds a Bachelor’s of Business Administration degree with honors from Kent State University and completed the Implementing Strategy Executive Education Program at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. He is also proud to have served six years in the Ohio Army National Guard.
